We already know that music can have a major impact on our mood. Fast beats motivate us, slow beats bring wistful sensations, and soothing music brings us to sleep. Sound healing just like music have vibrations that affect us on a neurological, physiological, and biochemical level.

Every cell in the body has a natural frequency. When exposed to specific sound frequencies, the body’s cell can resonate with those frequencies, bringing them back into balance.
Sound can influence brainwave activity, potentially shifting from an agitated state to a relaxed one. This can lead to a reduction in stress hormones, decreased heart rate, and improved mood.
Sound vibrations can stimulate the release of beneficial molecules like nitric oxide, improving blood circulation and potentially reducing pain. Sound healing can also influence the nervous system, promoting relaxation and healing.
Sound healing can help release emotional blockages and restore balance to the body’s energy field, leading to emotional release and a sense of well-being. Thoughts are also energetic vibrations! Every fear or limiting belief we may have lowers our vibration & frequency. Raising one’s vibrational frequency prevents falling into unhealthy habits, negative thinking or sluggish physical health. When we are healthy, everything in our bodies vibrates in harmony, we can discover our true essence as a human being, find freedom and live our dream.
A sound healing session involves lying down in a cozy and comfortable setting, closing our eyes, and focusing on sounds made by music instruments like chimes, gongs, drums, singing bowls, flutes and other various instruments.
Sound healing sessions are also referred to as sound baths because the idea is to let your body bathe in the sounds and let them carry you on a journey of relaxation, and healing. These sessions are full body listening experiences that uses sound and mindfulness techniques to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to the mind and body.
Sound healing sessions can be private or as part of a group. Each person sits or lies down on a yoga mat or meditation carpet. The sound healing practitioner will guide you to focus on sounds like their voice, your breath and a variety of instruments such as chimes, tuning forks, gongs, shruti boxes, crystal signing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, rain sticks and many more.
As individuals we are all at various degrees on our journey of growth as a human being and a soul. While sound healing creates a deep sense of relaxation, it can also feel a little intense. You can experience sensations of happiness, anger, grief or frustration related to thoughts or memories or past experiences or on-going chronic stress that may come up for you. I’ve experienced many tears myself during a session. All of it is normal without judging what we are feeling.
In my experience, sound healing is an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, where you unplug from the chaos of everyday life and focus on you – what’s going on inside of you. This is where you to begin to discover and explore your true authentic self.
Each session can last up to an hour. What happens after the session is known as integration. During this phase, you will be guided to sit up into a comfortable position, drink some water, journal, pause, or sit with stillness. Integration is very important because a lot of energy was moved during the session. Therefore, drinking water, movement, walking in nature are all part of the self-care post session.
It’s gaining popularity because there’s a growing interest in alternative wellness practices. Our lives can get stressful and chaotic, so having the ability to relax, meditate, connect with ourselves and release survival energy can be relaxing and rejuvenating.
